Les Murray lived down the road from me when we had the farm at Bucca Wauka. I was lucky as he attended a few writing functions and did some poetry readings that I attended in the town. I can tell you that what he has written he truly believes.

It is a small world after all. I had not heard of him. Amazon has on Kindle his 100 best poems. I think he selected. I have downloaded the sample book to read later.

He was considered Australia’s poet laureate for many years if not still. I like some of his poetry and a bit hum ho about some but my husband thinks it is all great.

I will report back. Have you ever read Sons and Lovers by D.H.Lawrence. I read on Kindle, including Whispersinc which I used for most of it. Having the actor read got me into it and then I was hooked.

I’ll be interested to hear what you think of Les Murray. No I haven’t read Sons and Lovers. It was a school text but my year missed out and being me if it was at school I didn’t read it. Have gone back and reread a few of the texts we did have and appreciated them much more. Perhaps I should put S and L on my reading list.

I probably take issue with that, poem, rather anti-social.
I do like small groups or no group when I seek silenceI But I
    could not adopt his thinking.
